Playground amount fields allow you to make a calculation directly in the field when creating charges. Amount fields can only have dollar amounts (whole numbers with two decimal places), however, using the calculation feature allows you to make percentages or flat rate calculations.
Percentage Example
Your school gives a 10% discount to siblings. You'd like to give a set of siblings this discount. Select the Item name that corresponds to the sibling's tuition plan. This will populate the full price of the plan in the Price field.
Click into the Price field and add *.9 (to calculate the balance after a 10% discount is applied), as seen below and click out of the field to see the calculation.
Flat Rate Example
You'd like to take $50 off the full price of tuition. Select the Item name that corresponds to the student's tuition plan. This will populate the full price of the plan in the Price field. Click into the Price field and enter -50 (to subtract $50) from the full price. Click out of the field to see the total.
