Understanding attendance reports in Playground is essential for accurate and efficient tracking of student attendance and meal counts. This article explains common discrepancies, troubleshooting methods, and practical solutions to ensure your reports are accurate and complete.

Introduction to Attendance Reports in Playground

Playground offers several attendance reports to track student check-ins, meal counts, and overall attendance statistics. While powerful, these tools may sometimes lead to user confusion due to differing data capture criteria across report types. Below, we address common issues and how to resolve them.

Commonly Used Reports and Their Distinctions

Report type

Report use case

Attendance - Daily Report

This report captures all students who were checked in for a given day. It includes a comprehensive log of attendance activity, irrespective of meal postings.

Daily Attendance & Meal Count Report

This report focuses solely on students who had meals posted for that day. If fewer students recorded meal posts compared to attendance check-ins, you would notice a lower count here. This distinction helps in identifying discrepancies between general attendance and meal-related attendance counts.

Attendance Percentage Report

The counts in this report are based on check-ins to a student’s assigned program according to their Student Schedule. Missing or incorrect schedules, or failure to associate attendance with the designated program, may lead to discrepancies in the Attended value.

Troubleshooting Common Report Errors

Discrepancies in Student Counts Across Reports

Differences in student counts across reports often occur because:

  • Attendance - Daily includes all check-ins.

  • Daily Attendance & Meal Count includes only students with meal records for that day. To address this discrepancy, ensure that the purpose of each report aligns with your data analysis needs.

Blank Signature Fields in Reports

To view or identify blank signature cells in the Attendance - Daily Report, follow these steps:

  1. Add the Signature table headers to the report by clicking the gear icon in the report settings.

  2. Toggle the visibility of the Signature headers with the eye icon.

  3. Scan blank signature cells to identify records missing sign-outs.
