Add Emojis on Windows & Mac

Emojis are a fun and expressive way to connect with families and staff. While Playground doesnโ€™t have a custom emoji picker, both Windows and Mac devices come with built-in emoji keyboards that make it easy to add emojis anywhere you type - whether itโ€™s a message, announcement, or note.


Use Emojis on Windows

You can access the emoji keyboard on any Windows device using a simple shortcut.

Steps to Open the Emoji Keyboard

  1. Click into any text field where you want to add an emoji (e.g., Playground message, email, document).
    โ€‹

  2. Press Windows Key + . (period) or Windows Key + ; (semicolon).
    โ€‹

    • This opens the emoji panel.
      โ€‹

  3. Click on the emoji you want to use.
    โ€‹

    • You can scroll or search by keyword.
      โ€‹

  4. Close the panel by clicking outside the emoji window or pressing Esc.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: You can also access GIFs and symbols from the same panel.


Use Emojis on Mac

Mac users can access emojis using a built-in shortcut or from the menu bar.

Steps to Open the Emoji Keyboard

  1. Click into any text field where you want to add an emoji.

    • This opens the emoji & symbol viewer.
