Camber Voice Overview

What Camber can do on the phone and in chat, how it's trained, and where every call and lead lands in your CRM

Written by Zach Fortin

Camber is your AI enrollment agent. It answers your phone around the clock, chats with families on your website, and turns every conversation into a lead in your CRM — so no inquiry goes unanswered and nothing slips through the cracks.

This article is a map of what Camber can do on voice and chat, and where each piece lives in Playground. Ready to turn it on? Head to Set Up Your Camber Voice & Chat Agent.

General Information

  • Camber lives in your CRM. Once Camber has been added to your account, a new Agent tab appears on the left-hand side of your CRM. That's where you build it, train it, and manage it.

  • One agent powers both channels. The same Camber agent handles your phone line and your website chat widget, and both pull from the same Knowledge tab — so families get consistent answers no matter how they reach you.

  • Camber only speaks to what you've given it. Everything Camber tells a family comes from the information you enter in the Knowledge tab. It won't invent details about your program.

  • Every conversation becomes a lead. Calls and chats create a lead in your Playground CRM with details pre-filled from the conversation and the full transcript attached.

  • You control when Camber picks up. Camber answers outside the office hours you set, and can also step in during office hours when no one on your team answers.

Answer Every Call 24/7

Camber picks up every inquiry call — after hours, on weekends, and during the day when your staff are with kids. It speaks naturally, answers questions about your program, captures the family's details, qualifies them against your criteria, and schedules a callback time. Nothing waits until the next morning.

On any given call, Camber can:

  • Answer questions about programs, pricing, availability, and enrollment

  • Capture family details and create a lead directly in your CRM

  • Qualify families based on your criteria — age of child, desired start date, program type, voucher vs. private pay, and anything else you set up

  • Schedule callbacks and text a tour booking link

  • Block spam so only real, qualified inquiries get logged

How Camber sounds and behaves on the phone is controlled from the Voice tab of your agent — the greeting it opens with, the voice it uses, how patiently it waits for a caller to respond, and which tools it has access to.

💡 Pairing office hours with Unanswered Call Handoff gives you true 24/7 coverage — Camber handles every call outside business hours, and steps in as backup during the day when your team is busy with families.

Camber Knows What Makes You Unique

Camber isn't a generic phone tree. It knows what makes your program special, understands your enrollment process, and follows your qualification criteria — so it can handle the nuanced questions families actually ask.

Once you've trained it, Camber can:

  • Answer questions about your curriculum and philosophy

  • Share your program's history and your director's background

  • Explain pricing, voucher vs. private pay, and current availability

  • Match a child's age to the right program — so a family with a 20-month-old hears about your toddler program

  • Mention discounts and promotions, like a sibling discount or a first-week-free offer

  • Refer a family to your enrollment contact by name when they want to speak with a person

All of this comes from the Knowledge tab, where you enter your address and phone number, pricing, programs, accreditations, schedule, primary contact, and any brochures or PDFs you want Camber to reference. Think of it like onboarding a new enrollment coordinator — the more context you give it, the better it does the job.

💡 You decide how much Camber shares about pricing. Enter your full tuition details if you want Camber to speak to them, or write something like "Tuition varies by program and schedule — I'd have to defer to the enrollment contact for exact pricing" and Camber will follow your lead.

Every Call Transcribed, Summarized & Actioned

Camber automatically records, transcribes, and summarizes every inbound and outbound call, then creates the right follow-up tasks in your CRM without anyone lifting a finger. Your team sees what happened on the call and knows exactly what to do next.

For each call you get:

  • A full transcript — searchable, with key moments highlighted

  • An AI-written summary — what the family wanted, and what the next step is

  • Lead details pre-filled from the conversation — so your team never has to re-interview a family

  • Suggested follow-up tasks — created automatically in your CRM

Transcripts are worth revisiting even when a call went perfectly. They're the fastest way to spot a question Camber fumbled and to know what to add to your Knowledge tab next.

Answer Family Questions & Book Tours from Your Website

Camber Chat replaces the old contact-form-and-wait with a real-time conversation. Families can ask questions, check openings, and book a tour the moment they're interested — right from your website, at any hour.

  • Families get real-time answers instead of sitting and waiting on a callback

  • Tours get booked straight into your tour calendar without a single email exchange

  • Every chat creates a qualified lead in your Playground CRM with the full transcript attached

The Chat tab is where you make the widget feel like part of your website — the title and response-time message families see first, your brand color, whether it sits in the bottom right or bottom left, the welcome message, and up to five Quick options so visitors can get answers to common questions in one click. You can preview the whole experience right in the settings screen before it ever goes live on your site.

Book Tours on the Phone or in Chat

A tour booked while a family is still interested is worth far more than one arranged three emails later. Camber can offer a tour in both channels, and you choose which tours it's allowed to offer.

On the phone

Camber texts the caller a booking link when they want to schedule. One tour type can be linked to the voice agent at a time.

In chat

A book a tour banner pins to the top of the messenger so visitors can start a booking without typing. You can offer multiple tour types here.

Hand Off the Calls Camber Shouldn't Take

Not every caller should be fielded by an AI. Your staff, your vendors, and your currently enrolled families are usually better served by a person — and Camber can recognize them and pass the call along.

Transfer rules live in the Voice tab. Each rule pairs a phone number with a plain-language description of when Camber should use it, like "when a caller indicates they are an employee." Add as many as you need — one for staff, one for active families, one for vendors. When Camber recognizes the scenario, it says something like "Great, I think this is something I should forward on to Sasha," and completes the transfer.

Make Camber Sound Like Your Program

Camber ships with strong defaults, and for most programs those defaults are all you need. But you can shape how it comes across:

  • Additional Languages — let Camber speak with families in Spanish, French, or another language you serve

  • Tone — set how Camber comes across when it's speaking with families

  • Traits — pick the specific qualities you want the agent to embody

  • Voice — preview and choose the voice callers hear, each with a description of how it sounds

  • Greeting — write the first thing Camber says when it answers, including your program's name
