Viewing a student's profile is a great way for teachers to gain any necessary information about a particular student. This article will cover each tab within a student's profile, including Overview, Feed, Guardians, Paperwork, and Schedule.

💡 Student profiles are only accessible to teachers via the Playground app.

Viewing Student Profiles

From the Home screen of the Playground app, select the Roster icon at the top of your screen. You'll be taken to a list of all students who attend your school. Click on any student to be taken to their profile.

💡 If your admin has restricted school-wide access, you will only be able to view the profiles of students in your own class.

Navigating a Student Profile

Within a student's profile, you will see 5 tabs towards the top of the screen:

  • Overview

  • Feed

  • Guardians

  • Paperwork

  • Schedule

We will cover each of these in depth.

Additional Features

By clicking the ellipsis towards the top of the screen, you will also have access to:

  1. Mark an absence

    1. When recording an absence, you will have the option to select a reason (Illness, Vacation, Other). This update will then show in the student's feed and schedule.

  2. Record a temperature

  3. Edit a profile

Student Overview

The Student Overview tab is where you can find all of a student's basic information, such as:

  • Birthday

  • Age

  • Allergies (if applicable)

  • Medications (if applicable)

  • Address

  • Programs (if applicable)

  • Physician Name (if applicable)

  • Notes

    • To add a note to a student's profile, you can click the blue "+" icon. You will also have the option to hide the note from the student's guardians.

    • After a note is created, you can Edit or Delete it by clicking the ellipsis next to the note.

  • Transitions

    • To view any student transitions, select Tap to view transition log. If the student has transferred between classes, these updates will show here.

Student Feed

The Student Feed tab works exactly the same as the Home Feed. The only difference here is that the Student Feed is specific to an individual student.

Posting to a Student's Feed

To add a post directly to a student's feed, click the gray, Add Post button toward the top of the screen, select a post type, and Post.

💡 If you are unable to post directly to a student's feed, your admin may have restricted this function.

Guardians

From the Guardians tab, you will see a list of the student's guardians. Their relationship to the student will be listed under their name. For more information, you can click on a guardian and select View Profile.

💡 If your admin has restricted guardian contact information access, you will not be able to view this page.

Adding a Guardian

From the Guardians tab, select the + Add a Guardian button at the bottom of the screen. The guardian can then scan the generated QR code with their camera to sign up and create a Playground account.

Sending Messages to Guardians

There are a couple of ways to message guardians from a student profile:

  1. If you want to send a bulk message to all primary guardians, select the three dots next to the gray Check-in or Check-out button, and then click Message Primary Guardians. This will open up a new chat screen where you can type and send your messages.

  2. If you want to send a message to an individual guardian, you can select their name and then Send Message. This will open a new chat screen with only the guardian you selected.

Paperwork

The Paperwork tab is where you can view and print student documents.

  • If a student has submitted a form or document, you will be able to see the submission date. With the appropriate permissions, you can also access the contents of the document.

  • After you have selected the document, you will have the option to print it out by selecting Print.

Schedule

In the Schedule tab, you can view a student's schedule.

To see more of a student's schedule, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and select Load More.
