Learn how to access your W-2 or 1099 in Playground and confirm your personal payroll information before tax documents are issued. This article also explains how to update your details and choose electronic delivery so you receive your tax forms on time.

Confirm Personal Information Before Year-End

It is essential to confirm that your personal information is correct before December 31 to avoid any issues with your W-2 or 1099. You can update your personal payroll information in Playground by following the steps below.

  1. Log into the web version of Playground at app.tryplayground.com.

  2. Click on the Payroll tab from the left sidebar.

  3. A page with your pay history will open. Click Update Information option in the right hand corner.

  4. The payroll information window will open. Click Personal Info on the left sidebar. Confirm the following details:

    1. Full legal name

    2. Date of birth

    3. Social Security Number

    4. Home address

  5. Once any edits have been made, click Continue to save your changes. Click X to close the window.

🚨 Your information must be confirmed by December 31. If your name, address, or SSN is incorrect, your W-2 may be delayed or inaccurate.

W2 and 1099 Delivery

W2s and 1099s will be delivered by January 31, 2025. However, you can receive your tax documents early by opting in for electronic delivery. Accessing Your W-2 After Leaving

If you are no longer employed at your school when W-2 forms are issued, your W-2 will be mailed to the home address on file by default. Even if your Playground account has been disabled, you can also still log in to access your tax documents. Tax forms are available only through the web platform of Playground and cannot be accessed through the mobile app. If you are having issues logging in, you can reset your password to regain access to your account and tax documents.

To download your W-2:

  1. Log into app.tryplayground.com using a web browser.

    1. If your account has been disabled, you will see a banner indicating that your account is restricted and contact your administrator. This is normal and does not affect your ability to view your payroll information.

  2. Click on the Payroll tab from the left side bar.

  3. Scroll to the Tax Documents section.

  4. Click your W-2 to download a digital copy.

If you are unable to access your account or believe your mailing address may be incorrect, please contact your employer directly for assistance.

FAQ

Q: Why can't I find my W-2 in the Playground mobile app?

Tax documents are only available on the web version of Playground at app.tryplayground.com. They cannot be accessed from the mobile app.

Q: My account has been disabled. Can I still access my W-2?

Yes. Go to app.tryplayground.com on a web browser and log in as normal. You will see a banner indicating your account is restricted — this is expected and does not prevent you from viewing your tax documents. If you cannot log in, reset your password to regain access.

Q: I opted into paper delivery. Can I still view my W-2 online?

Yes. Your W-2 is always available on the web version of Playground under the Payroll tab, regardless of your delivery preference.

Q: I received two W-2s, one from Playground and one from my previous payroll provider. Which one do I use?

Use the Playground W-2. If your employer switched to Playground mid-year, your Playground W-2 covers your full wages for the entire year. Do not file both, using two W-2s for the same employer in the same year would result in double-reported income. If you are unsure, contact your employer.

Q: I have not received my W-2 and it is after January 31. What should I do?

First, check that you can access your W-2 on the web version of Playground under the Payroll tab. If you opted into paper delivery, confirm that your home address on file is correct. If you still cannot locate your W-2, contact your employer for assistance.

Q: Our payroll company integrated with Playground so all payroll information was in one place. How are W-2s delivered to employees?

W-2s are not emailed and cannot be accessed through the mobile app. They are available on the web version of Playground under the Payroll tab. For terminated employees, W-2s are always mailed to the address on file. If you have not received your W-2, contact your employer.
