Lesson Activities Overview for Enterprise Admin

What enterprise Learning & Curriculum is, how lesson activities work across locations, and what you manage centrally

Written by James Aschkenasy

The Lesson Plan feature in Playground lets Multi-Site Admins create lesson activities at the enterprise level and share them across locations, keeping educational content consistent org-wide while giving individual centers visibility into their own observations library.

General Information

  • Lesson activities are created centrally: Enterprise admins create and manage lesson activities from the enterprise Lesson Activities tab. They will then be shared with all centers automatically.

  • Activities can be tagged by category and age: Each lesson activity includes a category and target age range, making it easy for teachers to find age-appropriate activities.

  • Teachers post activities to the Feed: Once an activity is available at a center, teachers can share it by posting it to the Feed from the web or mobile app. This documents curriculum delivery for families and administrators.

  • Individual centers can also create local activities: Centers can create their own lesson activities that aren't shared org-wide. Enterprise-level activities are managed separately.

  • Activities appear in the Lesson Activities library: All activities assigned to a center appear in that center's lesson activity library, available to all staff at that location.

The Lesson Activities Tab

From your enterprise dashboard, click Lesson Activities in the left sidebar. This shows all activities created at the enterprise level. From here you can create new activities, edit existing ones, and they will automatically be assigned to all centers.

Each activity includes a title, description, category, age range, and optional attachments (images, PDFs, or links).

💡 For step-by-step instructions on creating and managing enterprise lesson activities, see Create and Manage Enterprise Lesson Activities.

Categories

Each lesson activity is tagged with one or more categories, helping staff quickly identify the educational focus of each activity. These categories can be found under the category section of the activity. The available categories in Playground are: STEM, Social & Emotional, Literacy, Cognitive, Arts, Communication and Motor Skills.

How Teachers Use Lesson Activities

Teachers access the activity library from within their center's Lesson Activities tab or directly from the Feed when creating a post. When a teacher posts an activity using the observations post type to the Feed, it creates a visible record for families showing what curriculum was covered, and for administrators to track curriculum delivery across classrooms.

💡 Activities posted to the Feed appear in the family's observations view and contribute to curriculum documentation, a useful feature for programs that need to demonstrate educational planning to licensing bodies or accreditation organizations. For more information on how to record a lesson activity using the feed, see Record a lesson activity through an observation post
